About the College

गंगा देवी महिला महाविद्यालय

सेवा · ज्ञान · संस्कार

विद्या ददाति विनयम् (Knowledge gives humility)

🏛️ Establishment & Legacy

Ganga Devi Mahila Mahavidyalaya was established on 7th December 1971 in the heart of the historic city of Patna. Late Shri Sheonandan Prasad, a light bearer of women education, had already established a girl’s school in the city and was striving to provide higher education opportunities to women. His efforts culminated in the form of Ganga Devi Mahila Mahavidyalaya. Till date, it remains the only women's college in Kankarbagh, Patna—one of Asia's largest residential colonies—and has been solely dedicated to imparting higher education to women. Therefore, the institution caters to a large urban population while it also attracts girl students from nearby sub-urban and rural pockets belonging to different socio-economic backgrounds to get enrolled and pursue their dreams of a successful career.

📜 Affiliation & Growth

In 1976, the college got affiliation with Magadh University. The college kept flourishing under the patronage of Magadh University and became its constituent college in 1985.
